  • missionincrease.org, our public website, including the Mi Champion AI assistant;
  • ministries.mif.org and givers.mif.org, our account portals for nonprofit ministries, churches, and donors;
  • the Nonprofit Scorecard assessment tool, which we make available through a link from our website;

Mi Academy, our online learning platform at learning.missionincrease.org, has its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service posted on that platform. This Privacy Policy does not apply to Mi Academy.

2. Who We Are

The Sites are operated by Mission Increase, an Oregon nonprofit corporation headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Mission Increase operates as part of a family of related and affiliated organizations under common governance (collectively, the “Mission Increase family of organizations”). References to “Mission Increase,” “Mi,” “we,” “us,” or “our” in this Privacy Policy include the Mission Increase family of organizations as appropriate to the context.

For questions about this Privacy Policy or to exercise any privacy right described below, you may contact us at:

3. Who Can Use the Sites

The Sites are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has provided personal information to us, please contact us at info@missionincrease.org and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

4. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Sites. We collect only what we need to serve you, operate the Sites, and carry out our ministry.

4.1 Information You Provide Directly

Account registration. When you create an account on ministries.mif.org or givers.mif.org, we collect the information needed to set up and administer your account, such as your name, email address, and the organization you represent, along with login credentials.

Information about your organization. Nonprofit and church account holders may provide information about their organization, such as its name, mission, location, programs, and leadership. This information is seen only by Mi staff and is not displayed to other users.

Event registration. When you register for a Mi workshop, webinar, or other event, we collect your registration details so we can administer the event and communicate with you about it.

Contact and inquiry forms. When you use a form to contact an Area Director, ask about giving, or request information, we collect the information you enter, such as your name, email address, city and state, and your message.

Referrals. If you refer a friend or colleague to Mi, we collect your name and email address and the name and email address of the person you are referring. See Section 4.4.

Donations. When you make a gift through our website, we collect your name, email address, mailing address, gift amount, gift designation, and whether your gift is one-time or recurring. Payment card and bank account details are collected directly by our payment processor, as described in Section 4.5.

Nonprofit Scorecard. When you complete or partially complete the Nonprofit Scorecard, your responses and progress are stored so you can return later to finish and so we can generate your results. If you provide your name or email address to receive your results, we collect that as well.

Mi Champion contact information. If you choose to share your name, email address, phone number, or other contact information with Mi Champion so that we can follow up with you, we collect it at the moment you submit it. See Section 6.

4.2 Mi Champion Conversations

When you use Mi Champion, the messages you send and the responses you receive are recorded and stored, together with a summary of the conversation if you ask to be contacted. Nothing you type is transmitted or stored until you press send. Section 6 describes Mi Champion in detail.

4.3 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Sites, our systems and service providers automatically collect technical and usage information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device information, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, and the website that referred you. Some of this information is collected through cookies and similar technologies, which are described in Section 7. We use this information to operate and secure the Sites, troubleshoot technical issues, understand how the Sites are used, and improve them.

4.4 Information About Other People

Our referral form lets you share the name and email address of a friend or colleague who may benefit from Mi. We use that information only to send the referral and related follow-up.  By submitting someone else’s information, you represent that you know the person and reasonably believe they would welcome hearing from Mi. If you have received a referral and would prefer not to hear from us, you can unsubscribe using the link in the email or contact us at info@missionincrease.org.

4.5 Payment Information

Online donations are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Stripe collects your payment card or bank account information directly. Mission Increase does not receive or store your full card number or bank account number. We receive limited information from Stripe to confirm and record your gift, such as transaction confirmation, the last four digits of your card, card brand, and billing postal code.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To operate the Sites and serve you. This includes maintaining your account, registering you for events, delivering Scorecard results, processing and acknowledging your gifts, responding to your inquiries, and connecting you with Mi staff.

To carry out our ministry. This includes understanding the organizations we serve, assigning and supporting Area Directors, and planning training, coaching, and events.

To communicate with you. This includes transactional communications (event confirmations, gift receipts, account notices) and, where you have opted in, information about Mi events, programs, resources, and ministry highlights. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

To improve the Sites and our programs. This includes analyzing how the Sites are used, improving Mi Champion’s responses, and refining our training, curriculum, and resources.

To measure and report impact. We may analyze information in aggregated and anonymized form to understand the effect of our work. Aggregated and anonymized information does not identify any individual or organization.

To comply with legal obligations. This includes retaining donation records as required by tax law and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

To protect the Sites and our users. This includes detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their own commercial or marketing purposes.

6. Mi Champion AI Assistant

Our website includes Mi Champion, an AI-powered chat assistant built and operated by Mission Increase that can answer questions about Mi and our work and connect you with our staff. The assistant identifies itself as AI at the start of every conversation. It is not a person, and it does not provide professional, legal, financial, or medical advice.

What the assistant collects. When you use Mi Champion, the messages you send and the responses you receive are recorded and stored. A notice that conversations are saved appears in the chat window before you send your first message. Nothing you type is transmitted or stored until you press send. If you choose to share your name, email address, phone number, or other contact information so that we can follow up with you, that information is collected only when you submit it, and it is delivered to our team by email along with a summary of what you asked about. The assistant does not collect your contact information unless you provide it.

How this information is used. Conversation records are used to operate and improve the chat service and to help us respond to you when you ask to be contacted. Contact information you submit is used by Mission Increase to follow up with you as you requested. Your conversations are not used to train the assistant. The assistant has no automated mechanism that learns from conversations. Improvements to the assistant are made deliberately by Mission Increase personnel, who may review conversations to improve the quality of the assistant’s responses.

Who processes this information. Conversations are processed and stored by Mission Increase using the service providers we rely on to operate the assistant: Anthropic (whose Claude model generates the assistant’s responses), Supabase (which hosts the databases where knowledge content and conversation records are stored, in the West US region), and Vercel (which hosts the application). All of these accounts are owned and controlled by Mission Increase. Your information is not sold. It is not shared with anyone beyond Mission Increase and those service providers, each of which is used solely to operate the assistant. Mission Increase does not currently maintain a data processing agreement with Anthropic that includes zero data retention, so conversation data sent to Anthropic is subject to Anthropic’s standard API terms and may be retained by Anthropic for limited purposes such as safety monitoring.

How long we keep it. We retain Mi Champion conversation records for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and improve Mi Champion, respond to requested follow-up, protect the Sites and our users, and comply with legal obligations. We periodically review whether continued retention is necessary. Upon receiving a verified deletion request we will delete the information unless require to retain it by law.

Your choices. You can use our website without using the chat assistant; closing or minimizing the chat window does not affect your access to the site. If you would like the record of your conversation deleted, you may request deletion by emailing michampion@missionincrease.org from the email address you shared in the conversation, and verified requests will be honored. If you did not share contact information during your conversation, your conversation is stored without any information identifying you, and we have no way to locate it in order to delete it.

What to avoid sharing. Mi Champion is not a secure channel for sensitive information. Please do not share Social Security numbers, bank account or payment card numbers, passwords, health information, confidential ministry records, legally privileged information, or personal information about other people with the assistant.  Because Mi Champion is designed for ministry-related conversations, information you choose to provide may reveal religious or philosophical beliefs or other information treated as sensitive under applicable privacy law. Where applicable law requires separate or explicit consent to process that information, we will request that consent before processing it.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help our Sites work and help us understand how they are used. We use three types:

  • Essential cookies, which are required for the Sites to function, such as session, login, and security cookies.
  • Functional cookies, which remember your preferences and save your progress, for example so you can return to the Nonprofit Scorecard where you left off.
  • Analytics cookies, which help us understand aggregate usage of the Sites so we can improve them. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for this purpose. Analytics information is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.

Third-party content embedded in the Sites, such as videos hosted by Vimeo, may set cookies from those providers when you view it. Those cookies are governed by the providers’ own privacy policies.

When you first visit our website, a consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the banner or by adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Sites from working. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell information collected through cookies.

8.7 What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any purpose.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

If Mission Increase co-promotes events or programs with partner organizations, we may tell you about those partnerships through our own communications, but we do not provide our contact lists to partners.

Backups. Information in backup systems may persist for a limited period after deletion from active systems and is overwritten according to our retention schedule.

In setting retention periods we consider the nature and sensitivity of the information, the purposes for which it was collected, your reasonable expectations, legal, accounting, and reporting obligations, security and dispute-resolution needs, and whether the information can be deleted or anonymized.

  • Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

When you use the Sites from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.
